Pademelons are among the smallest members of the macropod marsupial family. They breed year round and the young develop in the pouch. They grow to about 60cm, or knee height and are largely nocturnal. They live in dense forest vegetation where they feed on grasses, herbs and mosses. They can adapt to urban environments, and often a family of them lives under the bay tree in my garden, enjoying the all-you-can-eat buffet of my lawn.
