The Boobook Owl is a small brown owl with streaked markings on the belly and white spots on the wings. It has very large yellow/green eyes and is named after its two-toned call. It is native to Australia and New Guinea.
This painting is done with premium handmade Kobaien inks on gold-flecked Miro Rakusui washi paper. The image size is H28cm x W41cm and has been dry mounted by the artist on 300gsm Fabriano archival paper that is H30cm x W42cm.
All black inks are not the same!
I have used three different tones of black for this image:
Chaboku
Suibokugayou (Bluish-black ink with indigo)Kurenai Bana (Ink with safflower oil)
As well as Saibiboku colours and gouache.
It is currently unframed and on receipt please frame under glass with acid-free matt board.
It can be framed on request - if so, plexiglass will be used for insurance and transport purposes.
