The Striated fieldwren is native to southeastern Australia and found in the coastal heathlands, grasslands and salt marshes. It forages on the ground in thick undergrowth for insects and seeds. The streaky plumage provides camouflage and makes it difficult to spot, but its distinct whirring song reveals its presence. Due to loss of habitat its status is vulnerable.
